Rodriguez wins bronze in Ljubljana

Dominic Rodriguez won at -81kg bronze at the 2026 Ljubljana European Open. He got a bye in the first round. In the second round, he threw Lovro Mocnik (SLO) with drop sode for ippon in 12 seconds. In the next round, he threw Saikhan Shabikhanov (RUS) with kouchi-gake for yuko and then countered him for ippon. In the quarterfinal, he threw Thien Oulevey (SUI) with a side takedown for yuko and uchimata for waza-ari. In his semifinal against Akhmed Turluev (RUS), Rodriguez was thrown three times with ashiwaza for yuko each. He won his bronze medal by throwing Abdelrahman Abdelgahany (EGY) with a low ouchi-gari for yuko in Golden Score.
