-48kg: Vorobeva (RUS)
In the -48kg final, we saw some unorthodox judo from Marina Vorobeva (RUS). She scored waza-ari against Laura Martinez Abelenda (ESP) with a sacrifice-style kouchi, then she did a Shiba Lock-style turnover that ended up in both a pin and an ude-garami. It was a masterful performance.
-60kg: Fukuda (JPN)
After Lee Harim (KOR) attempted an uchimata, which took both players to the ground, Yamato Fukuda (JPN) got right up and immediately launched into a tani-otoshi which scored ippon.
-52kg: Primo (ISR)
The match between Gefen Primo (ISR) and Blandine Pont (FRA) was decided by penalties. They had two shidos each but Primo was attacking more. A harai-goshi attack at the edge of the mat, clinched it for Primo. It was no score but it was enough to make Pont look passive, and sure enough the French player got her third shido.
-66kg: Kentoku (JPN)
When two players from the same country meet in the final, sometimes it ends up being a stalemate, with neither player being able to score against the other. And the contest is then decided by penalties. It looked like it could happen in the final between Kairi Kentoku (JPN) and Shinsei Hattori (JPN), as they had already accumulated two shidos each. But then Kentoku unleashed a cross-grip uchimata that spun Hattori over for ippon.
-57kg: Liparteliani (GEO)
Eteri Liparteliani (GEO) has fought Sarah Leonie Cysique (FRA) 10 times before this and had lost 9 out of those 10 times. But in their last encounter, at the 2025 Tokyo Grand Slam, it was Liparteliani who defeated Cysique. This final was her second time and she did it with aplomb. Her massive hip throw was a crowd pleaser.
