-63kg Gold: Szymanska (POL)
Angelika Szymanska (POL) won her third Grand Slam gold medal in Abu Dhabi by throwing Anna Kriza (HUN) with ouchi-gari for waza-ari and yoko-tomoe-nage for yuko. Before the match ended, Kriza managed to get a yuko score from uchimata but that wasn’t enough to stop Szymanska from taking the gold.
-73kg Gold: Doukkali (MAR)
Hassan Doukkali (MAR) created history by winning the first ever Grand Slam gold medal for Morocco. Doukkali scored against Masudi Ahmadzod (TJK) with a kosoto-gari which scored yuko. This was enough to win him the match.
-70kg Gold: Pina (POR)
It was a tough battle between Tais Pina (POR) and Kaillany Cordoso (BRA), and just as it looked like they were headed for Golden Score, Pina was able turn Cardoso over with what is known as the “Matsumoto Roll” and pin her for ippon.
-81kg Gold: Pelivan (MDA)
Only a yuko from a kouchi-gari separated Petru Pelivan (MDA) and Eetu Ihanamaki (FIN) but it was enough to win the Moldovan the gold medal. It was Pelivan’s first-ever IJF World Tour gold medal.
