If you were wondering if there would be a World Masters this year and if so, when would it be held, you don’t have to wonder anymore.
The IJF has just announced that the 2026 edition of its World Judo Masters – where competitors are there by invitation only – will take place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, from 18–20 December, 2026.
Players have to be ranked in the Top 36 of their weight class to be invited. Interestingly, there is no limit per nation. So, for example, if Japan has three players in the Top 36 of a weight class, it gets to send all three.
At the World Masters, basically the best fight the best.
